Sustainability

We aim to be the leading CDMO setting the standard for sustainable operations.

We are dedicated to taking responsibility by integrating environmentally conscious strategies and upholding the highest ethical standards throughout our entire value chain. While our initial focus was on climate action, our sustainability strategy is evolving to embrace the social and governance elements of the ESG principles.  We have a long way to go before reaching our goals, but we take steps every day.

Through Partners for the Planet, we are dedicated to contributing to the mitigation of one of society’s most pressing challenges and making a meaningful, positive impact on the world through our five key focus areas.

We will pursue zero environmental impacts from our operations globally (Scope 1 & 2). To achieve this, we have set these targets:

  • 50% CO2e reduction by 2030 and aiming for net zero by 2040 (Scope 1 & 2) (Baseline year 2019)
  • 100% electricity from renewable sources by 2027
  • 30% more efficient potable water usage by 2030 (baseline year 2019)
  • Continually improve waste recycling rates year over year

  • Be transparent and reduce supplier CO₂ footprint through ongoing data-driven dialogue
  • Reduce GHG emissions across our supply chain by 50% relative to growth by 2030 (target relative to accommodate growth)

By integrating sustainability into our core operations, we enhance the resilience of our partnerships, setting a new standard within the industry.

  • Central to our governance model, we conduct frequent meetings to develop strategic roadmaps and sustainability targets.
  • Performance and environmental impact are closely tracked, facilitating transparency and continual improvement projects.
  • We consistently exchange best practices to optimize both business outcomes and environmental responsibility.

As a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), we serve as a crucial partner to biopharmaceutical companies, supporting them to bring life-impacting treatments to market efficiently.

  • Over 4,700 highly skilled workers producing life-impacting therapeutics
  • 240+ active programs:
  • 3,000+ GMP batches (Good Manufacturing Practice)
  • 130 million doses of therapeutics produced for our partners
  • 21 commercial product licenses supported (including commercial authorization for allogeneic T-cell therapy)

Providing a safe and healthy working environment is central to our mission. We comply with applicable occupational health and safety regulations designed to prevent workplace accidents. Additionally, we are dedicated to building a culture of transparency and trust. We strive to live by behaviors prioritizing people and making a great workplace.

People First – the first of our three strategic priorities. We embrace 9 People Fundamentals that form the backbone of our culture. By leading with purpose and meaning, we aim to drive our business forward by attracting and retaining talent.

Safety First – Our Lost Time Incident rate for 2024/2025 is 2.32, confirming our stable safety culture. Our global team of safety professionals continually strive to reduce the potential for severe injuries year over year, maintaining a focus on risk identification and control.

Attractive Workplace – Our Nine People Fundamentals form the backbone of our culture, nurturing trust and establishing a unified approach to how we engage and lead across the organization. These fundamentals inspire us to prioritize safety and psychological well-being, fostering a culture of empowerment.

People Fundamentals – In 2024, the People and Culture team launched training modules for our Nine People Fundamentals. The launch included training across the entire network, culminating with a People Fundamentals Day celebration.
