FUJIFILM’s Advanced Research Laboratories in Kaisei, Kanagawa Prefecture, near Tokyo, is a key innovation center for research and development.
The Bioscience and Engineering Laboratory (BSEL) and the Process Engineering & Technology Center (PETC), specializes in biological research and manufacturing technologies. Researchers use expertise in imaging, materials, and life sciences to develop new technologies with a focus on biopharmaceutical production to improve access to treatments. Overcoming viral vector mass production has been a focus area that the team has addressed by creating a continuous electroporation device and placing efforts on producer cell lines – to improve efficiencies, boost productivity and reduce costs of goods.
