Lars Petersen
President & Chief Executive Officer
Lars Petersen, President and Chief Executive Officer of FUJIFILM Biotechnologies, is a global biotech executive with over 30 years of experience. Recognized as a visionary leader in the life science sector, he commands a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) with over 5,000 employees spread across Denmark, UK, USA, and Japan.
Since taking helm in 2023, he has led a cultural transformation, integrating a “people first” approach across FUJIFILM Biotechnologies’ sites regardless of geographical differences. Under his leadership, FUJIFILM Biotechnologies is closing the gap in access to medicines through Lars’ vision of applying a pioneering modular approach to biopharmaceutical manufacturing – creating the industry’s largest global interconnected modular network.
In 2019 when FUJIFILM Biotechnologies acquired the Biogen site in Hillerød, Denmark, Lars assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for the site, and he most recently served as the Head of the Large-Scale business unit in charge of manufacturing sites in Denmark and Holly Springs, North Carolina, US. Prior to that, Lars was responsible for the Global Large Scale Commercial operation, including oversight of $6.2 billion global expansions.
Lars has held leadership positions with Biogen, Genentech/Roche, Novo Nordisk, Novozymes and NNE, and he has successfully executed projects in Europe, China and the US.
Lars is a member of the Wall Street Journal CEO Council. In recognizing his transformational leadership, Lars was awarded the 2025 CPHI Pharma CEO of the Year, and named Danish Life Science Executive of the Year (2024).
Lars holds a master’s degree from the Technical University of Denmark.
